Today I Become a Better writer
Hello world! Yes, Today is the day i become a better writer. Let me tell you why.
I have always belived i can write, the problem being that i have had no evidence to show for this. The plan was then to fix this problem. And as any other software engineer it starts with spining up a new shinny blog. So i did purchase samphiltech.com domain name back in 2012 and since then i have been busy building this blog. 10 years building a blog you may ask, yes that is procrastination raring its ugly face.
Long story short here we are today in May of 2022 writing my first post. Before i could boast of advancing my writing skills i needed to understand who a good writer really is. This research led me to Dilbert Blog by Scott Adams post on The Day You Became A Better Writer.
This post by Scot Adams is a 2 minutes read that really makes it easy for any aspiring writer like me to follow. I strongly recoomend you read it. TLDR: The main takeaways from the post are
- Get rid of extra words
- Humor writing is the same as business writing
- First sentence should grab reader’s attention
- Write short sentences
- Organize your ideas in a way that is easy for the brain to comprehend
